Even if it still doesn’t allow comments? how is that a thing in this day and age
Rob Parker wrote a thoughtful op-ed piece which ties in sports, society and morality with some originality and research. Too bad the comment system won’t let me tell him how much I appreciated it. Go check it out, you won’t catch CoVid19 just from clicking (provided you are wearing gloves and sipping 140-proof as any safe internet surfer does these days)

comments would spiral out of control over there. I had stumbled upon something on there and really wanted to see the insane shit people were coming up with and was very disappointed. It will never make it without a comments section

I know I’m just a dog on an internet comments section, but it literally never occurred to me that “The Masters” tournament had any connotation to plantation masters. I feel like it would be very believable to say that a majority would never make the connection. It’s the tournament for the m asters of the game.

All the hate the new writes would get, being called scabs, etc. might still overtake
even other spam, let alone actual on-topic comments

I agree that I've always thought of The Masters as masters of the game. But then again, a very racist expression of my youth was "call a spade, a spade" is not seen as racist by many now.

Also never heard any racist connotation with that idiom. In fact, i never knew “spade” was in any way an offensive term for a person. And it seems like that may not have been it’s origins, anyway:

Yeah, I'm getting the impression that slang in 1970s New York might just all be racist slang, in retrospect.

The comments were the only thing that made that blog worth visiting. That an the yearly “why your team sucks” posts.

I’ve already got one of those. It looks great on my wall, and does me absolutely no good.
